MiG-31 first flight
The military fighter-interceptor MiG-31 made its first flight 35 years ago and 16 September marks the anniversary of the fighter engine D-30F6 which is still considered to be the best in the world.MiG -31 as well as its engine is a unique development of the Soviet designers based in Perm region. D-30F6 became one of the first bypass engines for supersonic aircraft. Advanced technical parameters of the engine provide long range, and unique rate of climb and altitude-speed characteristics.
MiG-31 serial production was discontinued in 90-s but the fighter is still adopted in the Russian Air Force.
