Sukhoi and MiG will be the Main Suppliers of Fighters for the Indian AF

Within the next 10-15 years India will remain the main buyer of the Russian military aircraft. The existing contracts provide for SU-30MKI and MiG29K delivery to the Indian Air Force and untill 2020 India will purchase 80-90 SU-30 MKI and its variants.

The current main development programme of the Indian Air Force, commonly known as the MMRCA Tender (Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft, is an ongoing competition to supply the country with 126 multifunctinal combat aircraft of 10,6 billion USD. Six aircraft were bid for this 10,6 billien dollar project including MiG-35 displayed at the Aero India 2009 in February this year.

By the end of 2008 the Indian AF had 90 SU-MKI produced in 2002-2008 as well as 470 MiG family fighters of various modifications.
