Indian Air Force says farewell to MiG-21 fighters

During the next two years the Indian Air Force will discontinue flights on MiG-21 which has always been the main combat aircraft of the country. Since 1960-s India had more than 700 MiG-21 fighters.

The plan provides for over 150 aircraft to be removed from operations. However the upgraded MiG-21 “Bison” will still remain in the national Air Force until 2017-2018.

This is a part of a major upgrade project of the Indian AF whre the Russian SU-30MKI will become the main combat aircraft.
